Record number of new international students took part in the orientation course
On 27–29 August, an orientation course introducing Estonia and the University of Tartu was held for international students starting their studies at the UT in autumn 2014. At least 328 students were present on the first day of the course, which is the record of all time.
The aim of the three-day course is to give an overview of various topics that will be important for international students during their studies, including introduction to the medical system, tips on best travel routes in Estonia, guidelines on how to avoid trouble with the police in the relatively safe Tartu, etc. New international students met their tutors and were introduced the student life in Tartu and at the UT colleges.
The orientation course for new international students is organised by the International Student Service of the Office of Academic Affairs of the UT twice a year: in February and in August.
