TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER SEMINAR HELD ON SPIN-OFF COMPANIES
The seminar “Global Thinking as a Key to Commercialising Knowledge” will feature experts from such esteemed institutions as the University of Warwick (England), the University of Leuven (Belgium), University Miguel Hernandez (Spain) and the University of Twente (the Netherlands). The speakers will discuss how they have launched profitable spin-off programmes that have proved successful.
In addition to the experience of universities, the seminar will also present the GlobalStart collaboration framework which from the very beginning emphasises global thinking in starting spin-off companies, considering international partners and international markets in a global dimension. The tools and mechanisms developed by GlobalStart will be introduced in Tartu, UT being one of the first European universities to benefit from a GlobalStart dissemination event.
Dr. Eerik Puura, Vice Director of UT Institute of Technology, has high hopes for the seminar, considering such information and knowledge vital to the Estonian innovation system which, considering its small size, has to be orientated to the global market. The methods proposed by GlobalStart may thus have a particular relevance for Estonia.
Dr. Puura will also give a talk at the seminar discussing the experience of Tartu – our spin-off success stories and failures and their possible reasons.
The working language of the seminar is English and participation in the event is free. The seminar is organised as part of Tartu SPINNO 2 and GlobalStart projects and takes place in the ground floor lecture hall of the UT Institute of Technology (1, Nooruse St, Tartu).
