U.S. Students Get Acquainted with Estonian Business Environment
Until 16 March, the students of Marymount University participate in an academic course by the University of Tartu introducing the Estonian business environment. Within this course, Skype, Microsoft Estonia and other enterprises are visited. The course has a special focus on innovation and e-solutions.
Within the framework of the academic programme developed cooperatively by the UT’s Faculty of Economics and Lifelong Learning Centre, the students of the Marymount University will listen to lectures introducing the Estonian business environment read by Jaanika Mereküll and Andres Kuusk from the Chair of Economic Modelling in the Faculty of Economics.
In addition, several organisations and enterprises are visited, such as Enterprise Estonia, ICT Demo Centre, Skype and Estonia Pianos. The programme ends with a meeting with the representatives of the U.S. embassy and the Estonian-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Further cooperation with the University of Tartu is discussed.
The academic programme is part of the international summer university of the University of Tartu which includes different courses around the year. This spring, students from the University of Hokkaido participate in the programme by taking courses on English language and culture. Additionally, the Japanese students get acquainted with Tartu as a university city and with the history of Estonia; they also visit the Estonian National Museum.
