UT CHAIR OF GERMAN PHILOLOGY RECEIVES VALUABLE GRANT TO OBTAIN WORKS OF CONTEMPORARY GERMAN RESEARCHERS AND WRITERS
10.01.2006
Ms Kaie Oks, of the Chair of German Philology, considers the assistance
of the programme to be invaluable for the Chair’s Library: “The grant
allows us to purchase research and literary works the acquisition of
which has so far been beyond the means available to the Library. The
order lists will be drawn up by the Chair’s teaching staff, who are
best placed to know the needs of the students and the wants of
currently available holdings”. All books acquired under the programme
will be marked with a respective ex libris and must be available to all
readers of the University Library. During its three-year period, the
programme will also permit the Chair to invite a German writer of the
Chair’s choice to visit Tartu.
The programme “People and Books” is funded by the German Foreign Ministry and the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the German Research Foundation, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the charitable Hertie Foundation, the Gerda Henkel Foundation, the Marga and Kurt Möllgaard Foundation, the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius ZEIT Foundation. The programme provides assistance with literature acquisitions to 30 libraries in 22 countries.
