Academic year starts on 31 August; partly online, if necessary

We intend to start the new academic year at the usual time – this year on 31 August. With regard to the arrival of international students and international visiting students who start their studies, we are flexible and take the situation into account. 

In English-taught programmes we will allow international students who have difficulties with entry to Estonia, until the end of October or until most international students have arrived in Estonia, to take part in the studies via online tools and, if necessary, on an individual basis. The final decision regarding the form and beginning of studies will be made depending on the curriculum.

To start the year with online learning, changes may be made in lesson plans, if necessary: for example, start the academic year with just 2–3 courses, which take place intensively over the first two months and are fully web-based. Depending on the situation, also part of the Estonian programmes, for example lectures for large audiences, can be delivered through video.
