The ENLIGHT RISE collaboration project starts in September

The three-year project ENLIGHT RISE (Research and Innovation agenda with and for SociEty), which focuses on research cooperation and young researchers to support the work of the ENLIGHT network, starts on 1 September 2021.

ENLIGHT is a European university network to promote equitable quality of life, sustainability and global engagement through higher education transformation. It brings together nine comprehensive, research-intensive, new flagship universities from Europe (Ghent University, the University of Bordeaux, the University of the Basque Country, Comenius University in Bratislava, National University Ireland Galway, the University of Göttingen, the University of Groningen, the University of Tartu and Uppsala University). The ENLIGHT RISE project has the same partners.

The objective of ENLIGHT RISE is to become more competitive and innovative together, leveraging and synergising partners’ respective strengths and capitalising on our innovation potential and partnerships with our surrounding ecosystems to jointly promote a greener, healthier, more equitable and sustainable Europe.

The focus areas of ENLIGHT RISE are health and wellbeing, climate change, energy and circular economy, digital revolution, equity.

Key activities of ENLIGHT RISE:

  • Help in identifying partners for research projects from within the network by creating a joint R&I support group and developing a digital matching tool.
  • Seed funding to support partnerships between ENLIGHT researchers in five focus areas.
  • Support in preparing large strategic project proposals and developing the support kit for researchers to help them build their proposals.
  • Identification of ways to connect to and share relevant digital research infrastructures.
  • Establishment of a network of early career researchers to foster collaboration and mobility, including networking events.
  • Support for collaboration with industrial partners
  • Support for the implementation of public engagement activities and Open Science practices via knowledge sharing and development of an ENLIGHT Open Access & Data Management starter kit for researchers.

ENLIGHT RISE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101035819.
