The Government Committee on the emergency situation confirms the members of the scientific advisory board for combatting COVID-19

The Government Committee tasked with resolving the issues related to events caused by the spread of the COVID-19-causing coronavirus and issues of public health and the economy assembled a scientific advisory board and confirmed its members. The task of the advisory board is to provide expert information to the Government Committee on the emergency situation.

Irja Lutsar, a professor at the University of Tartu Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine, was appointed the Head of the scientific advisory board for combatting COVID-19. Members of the advisory board include the Scientific Secretary at the National Institute for Health Development, Kristi Rüütel; Medical Director at the North Estonia Medical Centre and Professor of Surgical Diseases at the University of Tartu, Peep Talving; Doctor of Infectious Diseases at Tartu University Hospital, Pilleriin Soodla; and Research Professor of Applied Virology at the University of Tartu, Andres Merits. Krista Fischer, Professor of Mathematical Statistics of the University of Tartu, is helping the Science Council compile forecasting models.

The work of the advisory board is organised by the Government Office and the Ministry of Social Affairs.
