IT Office arranges the data of University of Tartu information system users

In the course of arranging the data of users of the UT information systems, the Information Technology Office will this week send a notification of closing the user accounts to all former students and employees, who have no study or employment relationship with the university as of 30 November 2020.

The purpose of the arrangement of data is to reduce the workload of the university’s information systems. While previously accounts were immediately deleted from the system, this year they will be closed first. This allows the user accounts to be reopened more quickly if necessary, and ensures that a user account or e-mail address will not be used by another person during a certain period of time.

In case a former member of the university still needs to use the university’s information systems (for example, the visitor status has not been extended, there is an ongoing cooperation project with the university, etc.), they need to send a request to their academic or support unit, who will forward it the IT Office. All requests are registered in the IT helpdesk information system, which allows to quickly resolve issues with the account.

After 15 December 2020, the user account will be closed and the data will be archived. Archiving enables to quickly reactivate the user account when its former owner returns to the university to study or work within two years.
