L’Oreal Fellowship of €6000 awarded to UT senior researcher

At the award ceremony of the L’Oreal Fellowship Programme for Women in Science, held at the Latvian Academy of Sciences in Riga on 5 June, five laureates of the fellowship were announced. The only Estonian to receive the 6000-euro fellowship was Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow Karin Kogermann of the University of Tartu Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Pharmacy.

In her research, Kogermann focuses on enhancing the treatment of chronic wounds by designing and making smart nanofibre-based wound dressings.

The scholarship is intended for female scientists who hold a doctoral degree and are under 40 years of age, for research in the fields of natural sciences and physics or related fields. This year, 26 applications were submitted to the competition from Estonia.
