Take Part in the Youth Business and Project Ideas Competition

We are inviting all student teams to participate in the pre-selection round of Kaleidoskoop, the biggest business ideas competition in South Estonia, which is held on 12 December in Spark Hub. Registration is open until midnight on 9 December on the University of Tartu’s Startup Lab webpage.

To be eligible, at least half of the team members must be university students or study at upper secondary school. During the pre-selection ten best teams will be selected to the Kaleidoskoop Finals that take place during the international business festival Startup Day on 29–31 January.

Each team will have three minutes to present their idea, followed by questions from the jury. In the pre-selection round the pitches can be made either in Estonian or in English, but in the finals the teams have to present their ideas in English.

The ten best teams will compete in the Kaleidoskoop Finals for prizes such as a pass to the Techchill business festival in Riga, a financial award from Tartu City Government and special awards from Startup Lab.

In addition, the best team of the Starter Tartu programme will get to compete at the national Starter business ideas competition, where the top prize is a pass to the Arctic 15 business festival in Helsinki.

Last year’s Kaleidoskoop winner was the Starter team Trit, who presented an idea that makes the ordering of translation services easier. On the Trit platform customers get an instant estimate of how much time and money it takes to get their job done. In addition, the Trit algorithm finds the most suitable professional freelance translator for each project, taking into account different criteria, such as the translator's experience and feedback on their work. Today Trit is a going concern.

Further information and registration to Kaleidoskoop pre-selection round is on Startup Lab webpage.

The Starter programme is funded by the European Social Fund and EIT Health.
